  • - 2 cups broth use chicken broth or Better Than Bouillon chicken
  • - 1.5 cups mixed onions and bell peppers chopped
  • - 3 tbsp vegetable oil divided
  • - 1 tsp seafood seasoning
  • - 1/4 cup flour
  • - 1 tbsp oregano
  • - 3 tsp minced garlic
  • - 1 tsp thyme
  • - 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • - 1 tsp onion powder
  • - 1 tsp chili powder
  • - 1/2 tsp black pepper more to taste
  • - 1/2 tsp salt more to taste
  • - Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

Season and Cook the Shrimp:

  • - Season the shrimp with seafood seasoning.
  • - Over medium-high heat, add 2 tbsp of oil to a large skillet and cook the shrimp on each side for 2-3 minutes, or until they curl into a "C" shape. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Meats:

  • - In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil.
  • - Add the hamburger meat and ground pork sausage. Cook until the meats begin to brown.

Add Vegetables and Seasonings:

  • - Once the meat is browned, add the chopped onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  • - Stir in the oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.

Thicken with Flour:

  • - Sprinkle the flour over the meat and vegetable mixture, stirring well to incorporate. Cook for about 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

Simmer with Broth:

  • - Gradually add the broth, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.

Combine with Rice:

  • - Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir to combine. Let the mixture simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the rice to absorb the flavors.

Add the Shrimp:

  • - Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and stir gently to incorporate. Heat for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are warmed through.

Serve:

  • - Serve the Shrimp Dirty Rice hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
