Materials

  • - 10 cups of flour
  • - 1 cup of sugar
  • - 10 teaspoons of baking powder
  • - 2 cups of amasi or buttermilk
  • - 500 grams of Rama or Woodenspoon margarine
  • - 1 cup of vanilla custard optional

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients:

  • - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the baking powder.

Mix the Wet Ingredients:

  • - If using, add the vanilla custard to the amasi (or buttermilk) and mix well.
  • - Gradually add the amasi mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring continuously to form a dough.

Incorporate the Margarine:

  • - Cut the margarine into small pieces and add it to the dough. Use your hands to knead the margarine into the dough until it is fully incorporated and the dough is smooth.

Shape the Scones:

  • - Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  • - Roll it out to a thickness of about 1 inch (2.5 cm).
  • - Use a round cutter to cut out scones and place them on a greased baking tray.

Bake the Scones:

  • - Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
  • - Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.
