Materials

  • 1.5 lbs about 700g boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, chicken broth, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch, orange zest, garlic, and ginger to make the sauce.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Fry the seasoned chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the sauce mixture and simmer until it thickens.
  • Add the cooked chicken back to the pan, coating it in the thickened sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  • Serve the orange chicken over rice or noodles.
