Materials

  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 sticks 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon flavor of choice vanilla, almond, lemon, etc.

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or two 9x5-inch loaf pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar:

  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

Add Eggs:

  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Alternate Adding Flour and Milk:

  • Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.
  • Mix just until combined after each addition.

Add Flavoring:

  • Stir in the flavoring of your choice.

Bake:

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s).
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool:

  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
