Materials

  • - 1 cup water
  • - 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
  • - 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • - 1/4 cup sugar
  • - Salt to taste
  • - Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • - 3 cucumbers peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch pieces
  • - 3 tomatoes cut into wedge-shaped pieces
  • - 1 onion sliced and separated into rings

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade:

  • - In a large bowl, combine the water, distilled white vinegar, vegetable oil, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  • - Season the mixture with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Prepare the Vegetables:

  • - Peel and slice the cucumbers into 1/4 inch pieces.
  • - Cut the tomatoes into wedge-shaped pieces.
  • - Slice the onion and separate it into rings.

Marinate the Vegetables:

  • - Add the sliced cucumbers, tomato wedges, and onion rings to the bowl with the marinade. Toss the vegetables gently to ensure they are evenly coated with the marinade.

Chill and Marinate:

  • - Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the vegetables to soak up the marinade.

Serve:

  • - Before serving, give the salad a gentle toss to redistribute the marinade. Serve chilled.
