Maple Mustard Pork Belly Bites are seasoned pork belly cubes that are air-fried till crispy and then coated in a maple mustard sauce. They strike the ideal blend of sweet, savory, and sour. Oven instructions are also provided.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs pork belly, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons canola oil
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190° C).
In a small mixing bowl, blend the Dijon mustard, pure maple syrup, black pepper, kosher salt, and apple cider vinegar until thoroughly incorporated.
Put the pork belly bits into a large mixing basin. Pour the maple mustard mixture over the pork belly bites and toss until evenly coated.
Heat the canola oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
When the oil is heated, gently place the pork belly bits on the skillet, ensuring sure they are in a single layer and not overcrowded. If your pan isn’t large enough, you might have to fry them in batches.
Sear the pork belly bites on all sides until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Once the pork belly bites are seared, transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
Roast the pork belly bites in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and the edges are crispy.
Remove the skillet from the oven and let the pork belly bites rest for a few minutes before serving.
Serve the maple mustard pork belly bites hot as an appetizer or main dish. You can garnish them with chopped fresh herbs like parsley or green onions if desired.
