3-Bean Turkey Chili Recipe
This recipe was shared with me by my brother in 2009, when I first started this blog. Based on the queries, I believed the photo and directions needed to be updated, so I recently recreated, reshot, and somewhat revised the directions. This recipe yields enough for leftovers, which are even nicer the next day. You may make this the night before and start it in the morning; leftovers freeze well.
And, because so many people have asked, I have a 6 Quart Hamilton Beach Set ‘n Forget Programmable Slow Cooker. I like it since you can customize the cooking time and it automatically switches to warm when it’s done. It also contains a meat probe that turns off automatically when the meat is done. I adore it so much that I own three! I really adore my Instant Pot, which is fantastic for making fast meals. It will be delicious whichever you prepare it!

3-Bean Turkey Chili Ingredients
- 1.3 lb 20 oz 99% lean ground turkey breast
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 16 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 4.5 oz can chopped chilies
- 1 15 oz can chickpeas, drained
- 1 15.5 oz can black beans, drained
- 1 15.5 oz can small red beans, drained
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup chopped red onion
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro for topping
- optional toppings, shredded cheddar, avocado, sour cream, etc
How To Make 3-Bean Turkey Chili
3-Bean Turkey Chili Slow Cooker Directions:
- In a medium pan over medium-high heat, brown the turkey and onion until cooked through. Mix in the beans, chiles, chickpeas, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, and cumin in the slow cooker.
- Cook for 6 to 8 hours on high or 10 to 12 hours on low.
- Garnish with onions, cilantro, and any desired toppings.
3-Bean Turkey Chili Instant Pot Directions:
- Press saute, spritz with oil, and brown the turkey and onion until cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon. Mix in the beans, chilies, chickpeas, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, and cumin.
- Cook for 25 minutes on high pressure. Natural expulsion.
- Garnish with onions, cilantro, and any desired toppings.
